Monday the 12th marked National Farmers Day, an annual holiday celebrated nationwide to honor and thank the farmers that feed Americans and Ohioans alike. Farmers provide the food you buy at the grocery store, the meals you eat at your favorite restaurants, and the food served to students in cafeterias across the country every day. Our world would look much different without farmers and the work they do, and National Farmers Day sheds light on the importance and irreplaceability of our country’s growers.
Farmers not only keep our communities fed, but also provide staggering contributions to our state’s economy. A 2022 survey published by the USDA showed that Ohio’s agricultural industry brought in $15.4 billion that year, making up about 2.5% of the state’s economy. Ohio’s farms provide invaluable economic support to our state, employing thousands of Ohioans in the process.

McMaster Family Farms – Fall Fest
When? All throughout October on Fridays from 3 PM-8 PM (23rd, 30th) and Saturdays from 12 PM-8 PM (24th, 31st)
Where? McMaster Family Farms, located at 345 Old Fourteen Road in Columbiana, OH
What? Join the McMaster family in celebrating their fall harvest with games, local food, and hayrides! Admission is free with hayrides for $6 per person. Kid friendly!

RevLove Urban Farm – Children Exploration Session
When? Saturday, October 31st from 10 AM-1 PM
Where? RevLove Urban Farm, located at 12313 Imperial Avenue in Cleveland, OH
What? Join RevLove Urban Farm for a kid-friendly hands-on learning and discovery day! Children will get to explore and play while learning about the farm. Kid friendly and free!

Riehm Produce Farm – Barnyard Fun Adventures
When? Open throughout October on Saturdays from 10 AM-6 PM and Sundays from 12 PM-6 PM.
Where? Riehm Produce Farm, located at 7244 N. State Route 53 in Tiffin, OH
What? Celebrate the harvest season at Riehm Produce Farm! Tons of events are going on throughout the entire month of October, and many special event days offer free admission. Admission is $15 each, and kids 2 and under get in free. Kid friendly!

Szalay’s Farm & Market – Fall at the Farm
When? Open daily throughout October from 10 AM-7PM.
Where? Szalay’s Farm & Market, located at 4563 Riverview Road in Peninsula, OH
What? Celebrate Fall at the Farm at Szalay’s! They have a massive fall market with local pumpkins, gourds, and other produce, and fun activities for kids like a corn maze and a Spinning Barn. Admission to the corn maze and Spinning Barn is $6 each, and kids 3 and under get in free. Kid friendly!
