Project SCALES is coming to Northeast Ohio
At Feed Our Future, shaking up the status quo is more than a mission — it’s who we are. At the heart of everything we do is one big idea: get more fresh, local, and regional foods onto the plates of students — from early childhood programs to high schools — and make it easier for the people growing that food to be part of the child nutrition food system.
We see ourselves as system disruptors — constantly asking bold questions:
- How can work better — today — for the small and mid-sized producers who’ve historically have limited opportunities in the school food equation?
- How do we inspire kids to love fresh, healthy food — and choose it when they’re not at home?
- How do we support child nutrition professionals — as they balance their daily demands while trying to bring farm to school to life?
We’re proud of the progress we’ve made over the past 10 years — but we’re just getting started. And now, we’re thrilled to share our next big move:
Feed Our Future has been selected to join Cohort 2 of the national Project SCALES initiative!
This game-changing opportunity will allow us to scale up our efforts over the next 3 years, working hand-in-hand with school food leaders and industry partners to make it easier than ever for Ohio’s producers to become a strong, consistent part of the school supply chain.
Our mission is clear: empower schools to make food choices that reflect their values and deliver healthier, fresher meals to students — all while supporting the local food economy.
The future of school food is local, and it starts now. Let’s grow it together.
